"In the End..." Destroy to Conquer

After a company launch, a Q&A (survey on family), and a business service blog – I write this week about Reimagining and Possibilities. As I have previously mentioned, the goal for my weekly blog is to initiate conversation around inspiring a better life, a better way.   Today, let’s boldly talk about principles generating concern and how they may show up… "in the end".

To get started on where I am going with this. I propose reimagining “tearing down someone’s life over jealousy (power, competition, regret) for the benefit of oneself”. Is the simplified idea of “destroy to conquer” acceptable, logical or beneficial…in the end?  Put life is not fair aside. For a healthy, non-political debate we could argue it’s being displayed day in day out, all sides, on a National scale.  We can read story after story of unfairness within communities, businesses, schools, churches, families and relationships.  I may even have a bit of knowledge from personal experience.  I believe we could all tap into a time when we witnessed or felt such a thing happen to our self. Perhaps we must look in the mirror and own the behavior. If it seems I have taken a singular viewpoint, that is not my objective.  I am challenging myself, along with you, to a deeper understanding. Exploring values. Discovering where change may occur.

Reimagine…
  • What lies beneath the surface of this action? – Fear, envy, insecurity, validation, ego, shame and so on
  • Are the motives sub conscious or conscious? – Is there an organized plan, an impulse reaction, a made-up narrative, rush to judge, etc.
  • Could the behaviors be about surviving or thriving? – Instinctive vs. Intentional
  • How would confidence, acceptance, respect and love alter the events? – A desire to genuinely want each other’s well-being, complementing, not taking from our own
  • What is the role of our individual stories shaped by our personalities, experiences, relationships? – examining your story can surprise you with insights and answers
  • Will the conduct be rewarded and go without consequences? – Is karma real - leave it up to what goes around, comes around. Or faith based – the ultimate judgement day.
  • Ultimately, no one can tear you down, unless you allow them. – Don’t rent space within you to others.

Is it possible…
  • By identifying what’s underneath, it is not about us, even when it is “personal”?
  • Recognizing the motive provides evidence to make informed decisions, at appropriate emotional levels?
  • Focus on internal strength not external threats?
  • Lack is overshadowed by embracing more success is achieved united than divided?
  • Self-awareness empowers us with empathy?
  • And though truth is primarily through one’s own filter, a movement to hold each other accountable, to unacceptable universal behaviors like defamation, evil and disrespect, becomes normal rather than staying neutral?

I write to create fresh thoughts, connect in conversation, not to suggest or impose my perceived position for your own. And welcome your comments where I did not present a wide enough lens.  For every statement spoken or written, we do live in an environment of being able to contradict it – the challenge, let your 1st opinion go, and take on an alternative one for a full 5 minutes of reflecting. What did you discover?

What standards do you have concern about – do they involve communication, group thinking, lies, love, belonging, kindness, freedom, potential, individualism, winning, extremism...what is nagging at you, want to share?   How can we together reimagine “it’s” possibilities… "in the end".
